Hey everyone,

So I have spent this last week and a half in Japan and have so far had a busy week. We arrived in Ishinomaki, on the 8th and got to meet our host. They are a married couple who run a local coffee called J’s cafe. They have been very hospitable and seem encouraged by our presence. God has allowed us to bless and serve them by helping out on projects around their coffee shop and encouraging them through conversation, prayer, and worship.

Some of the things they have had us do during the first week has been teaching English to some of their normal customers. This provides my team opportunities to share with them our testimonies and just enjoy healthy conversations. Two of my team members were able to create flyers for us to hand them out around the town. This has allowed us to get the J’s cafe name out there. This also helped us get a few of the local people to come to our concert and movie nights.

The concert was amazing. Everyone has outstanding musical talents. We have groups of great singers, several string instrument players, and dancers. While I like to do those things they are not the talent that I performed. Instead, I did a poem. It didn’t go as well as I would have wanted, but I was able to express emotions through my words. We also had people share their testimonies and sang worship with everyone in the audience singing along as a group.

A few days later the guys did a 13-mile hike with one of the guys that help out at the cafe. This was a great opportunity to rest and just take in the country and to just be still while also pushing ourselves.

This was a great first week and a half. We have close to a week and a half left. Im excited to learn more from this country and am willing to be challenged by God.
