Dear Beloved Friends and Family,
Have you ever felt called to do something big? Ever had a feeling that was so consistent and strong that you knew it could only be from God? I certainly have! In fact, after much prayer, I know it is my calling to go to work in the mission field.
Currently, I am working at the Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA with the Youth Development program while I finish my Associates Degree in December. However, as most of you know, my heart has been for missions for some time now. I have been on a few mission trips with Sinking Fork Baptist Church to Utah, Alabama (camp for missions), and of course, working locally with Operation Hopkinsville. I have also been overseas on three mission trips to Jamaica and one to Haiti. While in Alabama, we worked with the inner-city youth and during Operation Hopkinsville I also worked with inner city youth conducting a sports camp. In Jamaica and Haiti, we served at an orphanage and we ministered to the dying in a hospice home. We also passed out a great deal of food to the people in the community. In our community most recently, I have worked with the youth at Hillcrest Baptist Church and went on multiple trips with them. With each of these trips, I recognized more and more how broken this world truly is and the only way to mend the broken is with the love of Jesus. These mission trips also cemented the fact that I knew from an early age that my calling was going to be working in the mission field. I absolutely love to help people and tell them about Jesus.
After much prayer, I have applied and been accepted by Adventures in Missions to go on the World Race. The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. Adventures in Missions has sent over 100,000 people out since its beginning in 1989. On my journey, we will be going to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Uganda. I am so thankful and excited for this opportunity! God has placed it on my heart to fulfill the Great Commission – to go and make disciples of all nations. I want to live for something more. I want my words and actions to reflect Jesus. I want to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and provide the poor wanderer with shelter. On the World Race, I will be living this way. All my possessions will be contained in a backpack for 11 months. I will be living in raw, authentic community. In each country, we will be preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, and spending time with people in the lowest parts of their social system. And I cannot wait! I can’t wait to share the grace and love of Jesus with people who need it most.
This is where I need your help! First and foremost, I need prayers from you. In Paul’s letters to different churches in the New Testament, he often asked them to pray for his mission. Prayer is vital to this trip and to the fulfillment of the calling God has placed on me. If you would like to partner with me prayerfully, please send me an email and I will send you prayer update letters throughout my time on the World Race.
Secondly, I need your help with fundraising, the total cost for this trip is $18,100. I hope that you can help support me and send me on the Great Commission. You can donate online on my blog or send a check made out to Adventures in Missions (please put Jordan Wallace on the memo line).
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at (270) 881-8807. I will try to give you a follow up call. If I do not reach you, feel free to call or text me when you get the letter!
Thank you so much for your love and support,
Jordan Wallace
