Wellp, my name is Jordan Lee Treuter, and yes, I share my middle name, spelled exactly the same with the one and only Amanda Lee Burkett. A bit of blast from the past, I was born November 20th 1988, so I am indeed a true 80s kiddo. Born and raised in Austin too, which makes me part hippie, along with my one older brother and two great parents.

I grew up with a Methodist background but it wasn’t until college that my faith became real. I was in a student ministry called the Wesley at the University of Texas and that is when the Gospel clicked. Faith, not works. I remember very specifically the meeting where I described to my discipleship group what I thought the Gospel meant, and one of the guys recommended I speak with our director. After I discussed slightly about how God sanctifies us and that sanctification process leads us to salvation, the director asked if I’d like to hear the Gospel from his perspective. Wow! Big change. Learning that my salvation is vested in the work of Christ and sanctification is a product of our walk with Christ (a gift), not our litmus test/guarantee of salvation, offered much relief! I will say, it did cause slight rebellion, but I learned through the process that we shouldn’t sin so grace can abound! In other words, just because God asks nothing of us, doesn’t mean I should mock or take advantage of that gift.
More recently, I graduated from The University of Texas with degrees in Journalism and Government. During my college years, I spent much of my time with the Wesley crew along with working at the student rec center. Of course, I did spend much of my time watching Longhorn football, Hook ‘Em! Road trips and all, Longhorn football is something I have always enjoyed. Running is also something that I have done a good bit of in the past few years, running in a half marathon with some good friends, as well as a tough mudder. If you haven’t heard of it, check it out. I look forward to a full marathon this fall, but am still making up my mind. I am an adrenaline junkee and enjoy finding ways to do crazy things or test myself.
Currently, I am preparing for the Race and am working for DMA Properties, a company that provides housing opportunities for low income and disabled people. I help do repairs on properties across Texas, meaning I travel a good bit and never really know what the week holds. I am looking forward to the Race and all that it holds. I feel like my job is prepping me well for the Race – at least in regards to what I’ve heard about the Race and your need for flexibility and versatility. Day to day offers something new. One day I mine work maintenance, others I might lease apartments or marketing and advertising advice. I look forward to the exposure the Race offers to how to engage in the Lord’s work and how to continue to increase my focus on Christ.
