2017.
It’s a New Year. 365 days that we haven’t even seen yet. A year full of new possibilities, new chances, new resolutions.
Some of us may be ready for 2016 to be over with and ready to start new. Maybe 2016 was a great year full of joy, happiness, love, and excitement. Or maybe it was full of grief, despair, sadness, and hopelessness. Or maybe you are like me and it was a mix of emotions and you are happy it was over with because 2017 is full of excitement or a little sad because you know 2017 is filled with very different things about to begin.
I know about 40 other people that would agree with that statement. They are my squad members and for us, 2017 holds something that we never probably thought would imagine. In just 9 short months we will be embarking on this journey to 5 different countries spreading the Gospel and the love of Christ. It is crazy to think that in 9 months I will leave everything I know and going completely out of my comfort zone to show people just how awesome the God we serve is.
2017 is also filled with ending chapters for me. It is the year my long softball career finally comes to a close and I will graduate with a degree in Psychology from one of the best universities. To me, it is unimaginable to think that the game I love and play comes to an end in just 5 months. The game I have enjoyed, cried over, laughed over, made countless friendships, found who I was, and learned some of the most important life lessons will come to an end. But at the end of that, comes a new beginning, one that I am fully ready to embark on.
2017 will be filled with closing chapters and new beginnings. But through it all no matter what 2017 holds, the promise is still the same for you and I: God holds the future and He already has 2017 planned out for us. No matter what you encounter this New Year, trust Him.
Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Rest in that promise this New Year and I pray God blesses you this year and no matter what you may face, trust in Him and know He holds the future and you do not need to be afraid.
Happy New Year!
With all my love,
Jordan Rains
