Here are a few pictures from February in Ecuador!
One of our first adventures was to the Equator! I love this picture because we are in two different hemispheres! We had so much fun this day, even if I did get a little sun burnt…
On one of our next adventure days, we went to the Old Historic part of Quito. We ended up touring La Basilica. It was one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen! We walked up so many flights of stairs, across a rickety bridge and up ladders that were hanging over nothing, but the view was amazing!
Check out the amazing view out my bedroom window! We were blessed to be staying in a place called Casablanca where there were bunk beds, warm (sometimes scalding hot and sometimes freezing cold) showers, and meals prepared for us by the most amazing hosts, Mabe and Fabi. We could not have asked for better hosts or a better location!
This was my desk at school; this was where I sat to lesson plan, read, journal, snack and more! We spent a lot of time in the library which was both a blessing and a curse. We got a lot of reading done this month! In this picture, I was planning a marketing lesson. I had to have a Spanish to English dictionary to translate the marketing book… It all worked out in the end!
WE WENT TO THE BEACH! This awesome group of people and I made a weekend out of going to the beach, and it was amazing! We had fresh pineapple, the most delicious fish tacos, and saw bio-luminescence in the ocean! Story time: We were on the beach one night, and this man came up and told us about how twice a year the ocean glows. We freaked out and immediately ran into the water. Those who know me well know how big of a deal this was for me because I’m not usually one to spend much time in the water. We were in water up to our shoulders! Every time we would move, the water around us would glow! I’ve never seen anything like it! (PC: Kerri Klenk)
As you all know, February was all-squad month. Here we are with our hosts! Living with this many people can get interesting, but I couldn’t have asked for a better all squad month! The conversations we had, the worship nights, the squad sessions, and going on adventures with them meant so much to me! While I do miss them so much, it is a whole lot easier living with only 5 other girls instead of 43 other girls!
