Launch is just around the corner! A little less than 3 weeks actually. I wanted to share a little more with all of my supporters so that you guys can get more acquainted with who I will be doing ministry with!I realized some of you may not know a lot of details about what this year will look like. And if you’re like me, you may like to have something written as a reference (details are hard lol).
Basically, I am part of a squad comprising 43 people. We also have 3 squad leaders who will be living with us and giving us direction for the first 5 months abroad. We will all be in the same country together each month. We have 7 team formations that make up our squad of 43. Each team will be assigned to a different ministry assignment with a partnered ministry host in that country each month. The ministry host is someone who is very familiar with life in these communities and their needs. They will be our strongest resource for what culture is like and the do’s and don’ts. Some teams may work at a church while others work at an orphanage. We will spend 4 weeks in each country on our ministry assignment. While we will be working hand in hand with our partnered ministry host we also have allotted time to go out into the community to do evangelism and build relationships with locals. This gives us an opportunity to hopefully be able to minister to people and be a tool to connect locals to that local ministry. We want to encourage and empower, not enable and risk doing more harm than good. We want to uplift and point out others potential and the good work that God has already done in them. We want to cultivate a dependence on Christ and always be mindful that we are pointing people to Him and not to us.
Each person on my team and my squad have committed to truly being the church this year. We want to see what that looks like lived out. But, it doesn’t stop after this year, no, we want to continue living life on mission even when we return to the states and for the rest of our lives. This is an incredible opportunity God has given each of us. It by no means is going to be a walk in the park but the continued growth and intimacy with Christ that will come from this year of abandonment far out weigh the valleys that we will face. I admire the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given each of them and I am excited to be able to grow with them and learn from them this next year. Pray for us. We need the unity of the body of Christ.
Here is a pic of the team I will be launching with in October. Meet team Sonflower 🙂 Also, if you go to the side bar of my blog, there is a tab that says “meet my team” and it will take you directly to their blogs so you can get know them and all the things our team is experiencing together.
