I can remember almost one year ago praying to the Lord and saying, I know I can’t do this on my own. I am surrendering this to you, completely. I’ll do my part but I will get out of the way and trust that you will do yours. And wow wow! He truly does provide ALL things.
I have always said that this is not just my trip. This is an opportunity for SO many others to further the Kingdom and partake in spreading the Gospel. You have impacted so many lives because of your belief and faithfulness in Christ. You have also impacted my life as well. I am honored by the amount of support and love that has been poured out over me.
This journey is not even half way finished yet and already so many people have been impacted. While the Lord uses us to impact our neighbors and communities, He also is a global God. He can send ordinary people to the other side of the world to expel darkness and maybe to just tell a young child or a broken man or woman that yes, Jesus is for you too. And the best part is, there is nothing that you can do to earn his love because He said, this is the wage for sin but I’m going to go ahead and hold up your end of the deal too because I know you won’t be able to do it without me. Jesus is not just for Americans. This is not a cultural religion. He is the Lord of all.
I can honeslty tell you, this is NOT the message that was in many of the places we have traveled to. Whether the community has been infested with prosperity gospel or the lack of the gospel completely, it has been apparent that each person we have talked to needed to hear that message. We have the privilege to change perspectives and to bring clarity and truth about who the church is. To some people hearing that God called our group to leave home and travel across the world to love them seems like a big deal but then you get to tell them that that isn’t even the HALF of it.
I think I have taken for granted hearing the Gospel so frequently. I have heard it so often that there have been times when it stops stirring my heart. This is not the case for the majority of the world. While we are able to grow numb to the Gospel, others have literally never even heard this concept and it is truly life changing for them. We may not be able to fix all the poverty or tough situations we see people in but we are able to tell people of a new found hope that they can cling to. They can have an eternal hope. They can have a new identity. The Gospel transcends circumstances and even language barriers.
Each month we also meet full time missionaries who have been called to specific areas for extended amounts of time. We have even been able to love them, serve them, and bring rejuvenation and encouragement to these ministries. The Lord is using them in huge ways and they serve others with humility and selflessness that I admire so much. Their submission to the Lord’s will is something that I have tried to learn from. They disciple us through their words but even MORE with their actions. They have devoted their lives to bringing Kingdom to the nations and I love to love them.
So, please know and be encouraged that you are making more of a difference in the world than you can even imagine. Whether it be directly through our teams sharing the Gospel or by our teams loving our ministry host so that they can persevere and continue their work. AND, we are not even finished yet! We still have 6 more months. 6 more countries. 2 more continents. I am so excited for what the Lord is going to do and I am even more excited to share it all with you. He is going before us as we speak.
