It is late sweaty night here in Nam, but I feel called to share a sweet moment my squad and I had with the Father tonight. We came together for our last night of Leadership Development, a time for regrouping, renewing, and rest before we head to Cambodia tomorrow.
As we were worshiping before our last session, the H0ly Sp1rit was moving like crazy in the room. Might I mention, a narrow hostel room, full of 24 beds lined against the walls. Picture 55 people pilled on top of one another. The sweat was real. I mean straight sweat dripping down your face. But the H0ly Spirit moves when its hot, cause we worshiped for over an hour.
During one of the songs, I asked G0d to give me a word for my squad and immediately I got the word fresh, so loud and bold in my head. Then the L0rd proceeded to tell me, there are people including yourself that need a fresh start and I give fresh starts every morning. Go into this month with a fresh perspective of me, fresh start to m1n1stry, fresh start with your team.
As the song ended, one of our squad leaders shared what the Holy Spirit was speaking to her as well. She shared a word from G0d in that moment, which was there are people in the room that need to be refreshed and reminded of the L0rd’s truth and why they are here.
My stomach got butterflies! Wow Abba, you gave me the same words!
I immediately shared it with the squad what the Lord spoke to me and we pra.yed and sang over a few people that felt like they needed to be refreshed. It was so powerful!
I’ve been struggling with hearing G0d’s voice lately and feeling out of tune. When I’m not in the word daily I get off balanced. He is my sustainer and when I’m in His word daily my ears are cleared out and able to hear his voice. Ive been learning about what it looks like to speak out in boldness and confidence in words and visions the L0rd gives me.
We leave for Cambodia tomorrow and my pra.yer is to walk into month four with a fresh perspective, fresh attitude, and fresh mind towards mins1tryy and my team. Working through things with the L0rd but also choosing to love people well and receiving joy every day even when I don’t feel happy.
I challenge you to sit down in silence or to your favorite worship song and invite the L0rd to speak to you. Give Him thanks and glory and ask him to speak to you- give you a word of encouragement and truth.
Paul writes in Ephesians a prayer that I’m currently writing on my heart, he says, “may your heart be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called-his h0ly people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.”
If you are a believer in JC, you are his rich and glorious inheritance and everyday we are given an opportunity to be enlightened with confidence and hope that we are loved and chosen no matter what our circumstance is.
I’ve always struggled with hearing G0d’s voice and discerning his voice over mine. I still haven’t mastered it, but it’s nights like tonight where when I let him into my heart and create a space where I surrender it all. His voice overtakes all the other voices in my head and through that we can walk in obedience and love people to JC and speak things out into our brothers and sisters.
