So, as I’m sure you can all imagine, raising $16,254 is quite a big deal. I’m constantly thinking and stressing about how I can come up with this kind of money! It’s literally been all I can think about lately! On top of the large amount for the organization, I also have to buy plane tickets to the WR and back home, a ticket to training camp and back, and my supplies. This all adds up quickly!!! There are so many things that I need to take into account when dealing with the financial aspect of the trip, but enough about the stress… lets talk about God’s miraculous love for a minute!
A few months back, I planned a trip to California for a long Memorial weekend. I booked the trip before I was ever accepted to the World Race, so I couldn’t back out now or else I would lose an expensive ticket! I decided that I would still go and be very cautious on spending (which I totally was!!), and I would just enjoy relaxing on the beach (FREE) and pool time (FREE)! Well as I’m sitting at my work desk on Thursday, hours before I’m supposed to leave, I get a phone call from a weird number. I answer and to my surprise it is Delta. They said that if I agreed to leave on a flight 2 hours earlier than expected, they would give me a voucher for $300 off my next flight. I thought about it for a second, and the woman said, “We only have one ticket left for the earlier 6:45 flight, if you have a trip coming up you should take it”.
Immediately, I realized that I have training camp coming up in 6 weeks, and the ticket from New York to GA for camp was $320!! What are the chances that I would be getting a $300 credit on my next flight, and I would only have to pay $20!?! God works in the most amazing ways! It really is awesome when you begin to pray for God’s help, little things seem to fall into place. Every day I wake up and go to sleep praying that God will help provide for this trip if He wants me to go.
