Yesterday on my subway ride home, I witnessed the most beautiful encounter. A tall man in a suit walked into the train holding the hand of his 4 year old son who was pushing a scooter. They sat down beside the window together, while the man told his son what a great job he has done that day. He continued to praise him as we passed subway stop after stop. They played for the few minutes I was on the train, rubbing noses together and laughing. The love and joy that was seen in the father’s eyes as he watched his son fidgeting with his scooter was incredible. The bond that the father and son held was so reassuring and beautiful.

As I sat and watched the two of them interacting, it made me think of the children that I will be working with in Asia, and it brought tears to my eyes. The young girls in these countries are being sold into human trafficking at the age of 8 to supply their family with food. Their innocence is being ripped away by terrible men for less than what most of us spend on our lunch each day. Children are treated as property, never being loved, just used. Yet the parents do nothing because they have lost all hope.

There are also many cases where the children are kept by the parents, but the mother has gotten to the point where prostitution is her only way out. Her and her children are sanctioned to a one room shack with nothing more than a bed. Night after night, she sleeps with at least 5 men to make about a $1 a piece, while her children are hiding underneath the bed so the men will not see them. I continue to cry out to the Almighty Father for strength and support, so that I can make this mission trip a reality. It tears me apart to think of how many thousands of children are thrown into orphanages each year, never knowing their parents, because they do not make enough money to support them.

I need this trip, just as much as these children in Asia need me. I yearn to free them of their hard lives and bring them to the loving hands of Christ. I may not have always lived according to God’s word, but my heart has always been faithful and tender when it comes to children. With this being said, I ask if you are able to help support me in this journey, please do so. If not for me, then for the lost children of Asia. Bonding together, we can save these children and their innocence.
