You Know You Are On The World Race When…
– You
need to down size from your travel pack to your day bag in order to fit your
whole team and all their gear in one van to travel to the next location
– You
are asked to lead a church service, that may or may not last for three hours, the
night before. Then you find out that it will not only be for one church but for
two churches.
– It
starts to pour down rain and we are unable to reach the second church because
the van will not make it up the muddy, rain drenched mountain, which by the way
was going to be where we slept for the night.
– You
drive down a road further into the Malaysian jungle stopping from village to
village hoping to find a place to stay for the night. Then find an amazing
group of people to host you at the last minute.
– You
worship until 10:00pm at night and then learn that the night has only begun
with fellowship. We stayed up for another couple of hours sharing a late night
snack with the locals before bed.
– You
don’t find it unusual anymore to pull out your sleeping mat and find a good
place to rest on any floor and hope that you don’t get bit to pieces by
mosquitoes.
– You
wake up every hour starting at 3:00am to the wonderful sounds of roosters
crowing. Not just crowing outside of the place you are staying but hopping
around in and underneath the place you sleep.
– You
wake up in heap of sweat in the same clothes you wore yesterday and start the
day anew.
– You
then realize that tonight you need to catch a train back to another location,
not a short train ride but an overnight experience packed with craziness.
– Yet,
at the end of the day, you recognize that all your needs have been met and that
you are healthy.
What more do you think that you need? What more do you really
need?
