Bonjour de Côte d’Ivoire (Hello from Ivory Coast),

This month has been a month of friends. I have had the opportunity to connect with old friends and make some great new friends as well.

TRAVEL DAYS

Monday, August 8th, we boarded a plane to head to our first country.  This journey to our first country would not be short by any means, our first travel day would actually be two and a half days.

OUR MINISTRY

This month we have been working with Faith Revival Mission. The church is located in the Treichville area of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. We are very lucky that in this French speaking country our ministry is in English. Our host, Pastor Matthew and his wife, Mamanic, have been so welcoming. They have invited us not only into their church, but also their home. During our time at Faith Revival Mission, we have had the opportunity to teach bible study, give short sermons, and participate in church programs. Mamanic already jokes that she has six new daughters.

LODGING

While we are here in Côte d’Ivoire we are staying on campus at Mission Emphrata. This location serves as a local community center for this area. We are so blessed with our accommodations, we all have real beds and the rooms even have A/C! It has been such a joy meeting the locals who live close and interacting with them. My team is here with 4 other teams from my Squad (31 people total) so it has been great being able to spend this first month with the majority of the squad.

OLD FRIENDS

Probably my favorite parts of, Côte d’Ivoire has been being able to reconnect with my old friend from college. Papa moved to Côte d’Ivoire about five months ago for work. It was amazing that we were in the same country, but even better the same city! It has been a lot of fun catching up with him and he has been a fantastic tour guide.

MUSIC

So this is been the song that we have been listening to on repeat all month!

This month I have also had the opportunity to catch up on rest. The six weeks before I left the US were very exhausting, so this time of rest is much appreciated. In a less then two weeks my team will head to Ghana, it seems crazy that our first month is almost already over. I ask for your continued prayers as we finished our time in Côte d’Ivoire. As always thank you for all the love and support!
