The ministry this month takes place in the slums of the Philippines
I’m currently located in a big tourist island called Bohol! This island
is most definitely beautiful, however outside of this beautiful island tourist attraction are dirt poor slums.  The ministry contact for this month is in charge of a para church organization
called I.C.M.

The I.C.M is an function organization that goes out into
the slums and villages and teaches people how to take care of
themselves.  They also partner with every pastor in the community which
is about 300 pastors so they can follow up on the work that is done.
There are about six different types of teaching that the I.C.M does.
These types of teaching includes: uplift, transformation, medical,
mercy/compassion, preschool, and finances. This past week I got the
opportunity to work with uplift.  The instructor goes into churches,
homes, and villages to teach. The program last for eight weeks in each
community that is attended

 The lessons deal with healthy
lifestyles, showing how to grow proper and lasting crops, and values.
The I.C.M. has a huge heart for the community and really wants to see a
better way of life for them.  Most of the people in these areas are
fisherman and farmers.  The main thing that is needed in the
Philippines is work!!!!!  To reach out to the people of Bohol the I.C.M
when finishing the teaching gives them 2kilos or rice! That is enough
rice to feed the family for a day or two. Rice is eaten alot here! I
have had rice and fish everyday since coming here!!!!!!! By next week I
might turn into rice!!!  This doing really reaches out to the community
and lets the people know that they are loved!  My role in this process
is still being figured out, however I have gotten multiple
opportunities to share a word and encourage the people!  God Bless the
Philippines!
