Sunday morning we all went to church with Deb and the kids. Sam and I had the opportunity to catch the last part of the pre-service prayer meeting, and it was awesome. It was neat to see so many hearts passionately desiring for God to show up, and being diligent in preparing their hearts and getting to a good place, so they woulud be prepared to receive whatever the Holy Spirit had for them in the service. This was no quiet prayer meeting either….at one point, one of the leaders said “whatever sound or action you correlate with Joy, do that now!”….it got real loud, real fast. This family of believers was just so filled with the Joy of the Lord.
The service was good, and after the service over half the congregation came and introduced themselves to us and chatted for a bit. Then 2 of the youth, Brian and Teefly, asked if we played any instruments….long story short, we ended up having a mini jam session! Sam on the keys, me on the drums, Brian on the guitar and Teefly singing. They taught me to play the drum set african style, and we had a blast jamming out and worshipping for a while.
That afternoon we went and saw the largest tree in Botswana….pretty big, I’d say
We were planning on leaving Monday morning, but Deb talked us into staying for one more day so we could go to the Prison with her and some of the youth from the church. We left early in the morning, and spent the morning playing volleyball and hanging out with about 50 inmates. It was a great time, and my awesome teammate John wrote a blog about it….you should check it out.
Monday afternoon we finally got in some solid much-missed team time and feedback, and made our plans for heading out the next morning.
Tuesday morning, the 13th, we woke up at 4:30am and headed to the bus station to catch our ride to Kasane. I’ll pick things up with the next blog.
