It says on here that the last time I blogged was September 23rd. Oops!
The last few weeks have been significantly different than the ones preceding them.
This month we are once again partnering with YWAM. This time we’re helping teach Music, English and Computer classes at a local university, “University for the Nations”, that YWAM has partnered with the government to run. It is mostly highschool and college age kids. The classes are in the afternoons and evenings, so our days are pretty open. In the mornings we often help out around the base where we are staying, with painting or cleaning.
If you’ve been following along, you know that our housing situations the first three months were pretty old school, and our ministry location was generally out in the middle of nowhere. This month has been the exact opposite. We are smack in the middle of Siem Reap, about a 5 minute bike ride from pub street. We are staying at the YWAM base here, which is a great facility. We have nice bedrooms, bathrooms, a local laundry service available, a sweet balcony to chill out on, and even a refrigerator to use! They have really made us feel right at home here.
The school that we teach at is about a 5 minute bike ride away. I teach Guitar and Keyboard 4-5pm, Computer 5-6pm, and Advanced Computer 6-7pm. I managed to escape teaching any english classes, which is probably a good thing, given my extreme incompetence in that department.
Other than being at the end of the day, which makes it hard to stay energized sometimes, ministry this month has been great. It’s fun to be teaching older students, and to be able to better connect and share with them. Our team is continuing to grow together, and the Lord is throwing big things at several of us individually this month. He has been teaching me about trust – I’ll try to post a blog about it soon.
Prayer Requests: As the end of the month approaches, Lindsay and I are working to get everything lined up for our squad to switch continents! We’ll be spending the next 3 months in Africa. Please pray for safe travels for our squad, and that we’ll all be open to what the Lord has for us in Africa, and will jump in to serve with willing hearts.
Fundraising Update: As of right now, I’m currently 73% of the way there! Thank you so much to everyone who supported me so far. The deadline for having the full amount is the 1st of the year, so I have about 2 months left to raise the remaining amount. If you know anyone who would be interested in being a part of this, please let them know, or send them my way!
Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve updated ya’all – Thanks again for following along!
