Exhausting. Exhilarating. Fantastic. Challenging. Phenomenal. All words that could be used to describe this last week.
I spent the last 7 days in Atlanta at training camp with all 4 squads that are launching in July. D, E and F squads, and of course our very own G squad. I met, for the first time, the 43 individuals who will be my family for the next year, including the 6 other members of our specific team. (The Squad is G Squad, 43 of us. The team is Team Boundless, 7 members of G-Squad).
In one short week, I shared an enormous amount of highs and lows with this group. We started by waking up the first morning at 6 am to pouring rain, tearing down our tents, trying to cram everything into our packs that we’d spent weeks meticulously packing, and going for a hike with all our gear. In the freezing cold and pouring rain. Awesome.
Later in the week all us guys had to swim ¼ mile across a pond, while each carrying a piece of firewood, without getting the wood wet. (ya’all ever seen me try to swim??)
These are just a couple small examples of the crazy things we experienced together. But we also had phenomenal times of worship, heard from the Lord in new ways, and got to see Him move in great ways. We had crazy dance parties together, had some rousing rounds of mafia, and shared stories over campfires.
I learned how to better open my eyes to what the Lord is doing. I learned new things about honesty, and about true discipleship. I learned about Abandonment, Brokenness, and Dependence. I got a beautiful, real-life picture of living in community, and what that looks and feels like.
So what is the end result? We now have a family of 43, G Squad, made up of 7 teams. On July 3rd we’ll launch, and for us, the World Race will begin.
God was glorified this last week, and we were all equipped to better glorify Him in this next year. And that is the one thing, the ONLY thing, that matters. We developed community. We ate weird foods. We learned how to pack. But all because we desire to serve Him, to the best of our abilities, with everything we have. We all sincerely desire to live out Deuteronomy 6:5
As you can see from the status bar at the top, fundraising is going great, but I still have a ways to go! If you’ve already supported me, thank you soooo much! If you know anyone who would be interested in hearing more about my story, please point them this way!
We leave for Nepal in just over a month!
G Squad!
