Four months ago, I certainly had no idea that I would be here. By “here” I mean sitting on my couch blogging and thinking about how grad school starts in just a days. I accomplished a great amount this summer. Here is a quick list of what I did and what I learned.
Was given a mini-van…for free.
Applied for World Race.
Applied for a transportation management position with Union Pacific Railroad.
However, I did get to spend some great quality time with my nephew and great-niece.
Prayed…
Got accepted to World Race.
Prayed some more….
Turned down World Race.
Decided to apply for graduate school.
Studied for the GMAT.
Scored high enough on the GMAT.
Finished applying for grad school.
Volunteered at high school church camp in Solomon, KS.
Sold my 2010 Ford Raptor (that was paid off).
Got a HUGE scholarship to the University of Tulsa.
Went as a sponsor to a CIY conference in Holland, MI.

Committed to lead communion meditations at church (I have a fear of public speaking).
Enrolled at the University of Tulsa.

Hung out in Lubbock, TXfor a week with my old youth minister.
Considering reapplying for World Race and going after I get my MBA.
Volunteered at Junior High Church Camp in Solomon, KS.
Preached my first sermon (so much for being afraid of public speaking).
Found freedom and slavery simultaneously.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned this summer is the true cost of discipleship. God loved us enough to send His Son to die for us. But…he also called us to follow Him. And when He called us to pick up our cross and follow him, he meant it. Throughout my journey this summer, I have followe
d to the best of my ability. It is in my slavery to Christ, that I have found true freedom. Not the freedom to love worldly things, but the freedom to simply love. Not the freedom to pursue my dreams, but to pursue His. I have found true freedom in knowing that when I willingly submit myself to Him, He will be my guide. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn fromme, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” The path of a Christian is not an easy one. However, it is our relationship with God that changes a meaningless daily grind into a spiritual purpose and movement. It is in this realization that we are set free.
