Set your culture and expectations for your team early…otherwise you will end up having to do it later anyways.
Write down important information and then share it with your team…Otherwise you will forget.
Be open and authentic with what you need prayer for, even as a leader…otherwise people won’t pray for you and you will stay depressed.
Learn how to be a duck and let things roll off your back. But don’t paddle frantically underneath the water to stay afloat…eventually you will burnout.
Dress for Success…or you will get kicked out of seminary class.
Worry about relationships more than actually worrying about being a good leader. In other words, make time for people…sometimes they will invite you inside for a Coke.
Don’t strive for perfection, strive for love….love always wins.
Vent to Jesus, not to your team…he can take it, your team can’t.
If you want to be full of the Spirit…think full of the spirit.
Delegate, delegate, delegate…Jesus delegated his authority to make a change in this world. Now claim it! “You will do greater things than me.”
“Leaders will be the first ones to prefer others, the first to give and receive feedback, and the first to love and sacrifice. Leaders will strive to die to themselves for the sake of others, just as Jesus did (Phil. 2).”
