We dug a ditch…
and we cut and burned a whole bunch of brush…

(yes, that man with white hair on left is Ron Roloff, the father of Matt Roloff of Little People Big World)
We worked at a House for girls that are at risk of being sold or captured into the sex trade. At remember nhu, girls are taken in before they can be sold out into the trade. You can read more about it at their site…
…because I dont think I can say it all. We met with Carl, the founder, a few times and had the chance to pick his brain on anything we wanted. God spoke to his heart in a Hotel hear in Chiang Mai at a conference of pastors and missionaries. He searched for 6 years to find one girl in Cambodia, Nhu is her name. Now him and his team have started 8 houses all over S.E.A. (south east asia), including Burma, and soon Mongolia, that run by the same model as the one here, and they are continuing to build more as the Lord leads them. Their goal is to cover the entire world. So this is prevention. Not many places work in the prevention side of stopping the trade, most work in intervention. (both are very important and needed) I strongly believe that this (prevention) is the key to putting a stop to it and having the name of Jesus run through countries like Thailand, where it is only 1% christian. These girls that are in these homes are natives of their countries. These homes are run by Christians and Jesus is tought in each of them. So essentially, when a home is started, so is a church filled with native members. These girls learn about Jesus and most of them become Christians, they go to school, they have friends, they grow up, they go here, they go there, they do anything and they still have the love of Christ in them, and that shows wherever they go. Jesus is using a terrible thing to show and spread the mercifull riches and grace for the glory of His name! That is exciting, and a HUGE deal for the sake this earth! espeacially places like these where most of the population have been deceived by a spirit into religion and the worshiping of false gods (hindu, budism, etc.).
So this month we spent our time doing some ground/maintenance work at the home in Doi Saket, a town about 20/30min outside of Chiang Mai city center. The Lord is teaching me allot about intentionality with others and loving others like He loves me. Two things Im growing in.
But the glory of this month was in our time with the girls. There are two different houses about mile from each other because there are so many girls here they cant put them all in the same house. Each night we would eat dinner with one house and switch the next night. We got to eat with them, and just hang out and play games and help them with their English home work. But even better, we got to spend Christmas day with them! Some of these girls had never celebrated the birth of Jesus before. Some of them had never even received a gift before. It was amazing! A day to certainly never be forgotten.
some of the girls dressed up in traditional Thai tribal dresses and sang songs for us
some of the girls made us christmas cards. here is one they made of all us
