So the story goes like this:

We met at an annual carnival in Massachusetts in September 2012. We hit it off almost immediately while sharing a bag of mini donuts and Jon wooed Kelsey instantly through his goofy sense of humor. After only 9 months of dating, he asked her to marry him and she was like “Heck yes!!”

We were married in May 2014 and we’re best friends!

Most people that have met Kelsey all say the same thing; she’s always smiling (and I agree). Kelsey has a way about her that always seems to find the best in any situation. I believe she’s genuinely a happy person, which is why she’s usually got a smile on her face. She’s like a piece of driftwood and is willing to go wherever the wind takes her. She likes to be carefree, laid back, and not take life so seriously – pretty much the opposite of my type A personality, so how we ended up together is a strange circumstance.

When I first met Kelsey, she had just gotten back from living in Colorado where she studied the Culinary Arts (trust me, she can whip up a mean meal) and she was in public acting like a goofy fool. Immediately I thought, “we could really get along” and we’re still together to this day. It can be a little hard to describe her well because she’s so beautifully complicated, so I think I’ll just mention some highlights to give you a picture.

– Kelsey has driven cross-country twice in a 1995 Mustang that she bought for $1,500
– She’s gone on a vacation and completely forgot to pack any shoes
– She knows every Country song there is and dreams of being a cowgirl
– Her favorite place in the world is the summer campground she attended as a child
– She believes everyone should have to wait tables at least once in their life
– Kelsey is a romantic and is a big fan of love stories and romantic movies
– She loves the rain and would choose it over sunshine
– She becomes completely crippled with excitement when she sees baby animals

All of these things don’t seem like they fit together, but they do in my wife and that’s what makes her incredible. A lot of this stuff is humorous, but besides being fun, she’s also very selfless, forgiving, trustworthy, clever, faithful and most importantly faithful to God.
To me, this is what it truly means to be a woman, and I think Kelsey is a perfect example. She has an incredible way of seeing things deeper than most and has always been there to encourage when troubles come. Her passion for The Lord is a driving force while she seeks God’s will in her life. She is willing to humble herself so He can mold her and make her into what He desires, and that has really inspired me.

Kelsey see’s her life as an opportunity and continues to challenge what more there is. It’s caused her to grow so much in the time that I’ve known her, and it forces me to grow along with her. She’s a courageous partner that’s willing to do what it takes to see the goodness of God and I’m proud to have her as my teammate.

So now the question is, who is this mysterious Jon person?!
Well….

Jon is an artist, a singer, a pro-wrestler, a soccer player, a conversationalist, an encourager, a prayer warrior, a comic lover, a worship leader, a middle child of 3, a loyal friend, a Jesus follower, a deep thinker, an extrovert, a chocolate lover, a realist at times, and a really big kid at heart.

I’m pretty positive he could survive only on peanut butter and be happy.

Occupation: App Designer.

Secret Identity: Aquaman. (He actually worked at Six Flags one summer as Aquaman & has loved the character ever since).

Favorite music: Gospel & Traditional Irish music.

He has a large collection of interesting musical instruments that he sometimes likes to randomly start playing very loudly in our house like the bodhran drum, the didgeridoo, the penny whistle, African drums, a finger harp, an ivory horn, an assortment of wooden flutes, and one of those whistle things that Peter Pan plays.

He’s not shy. He talks a lot.

Jon has taught me so much about Spiritual growth and maturity and he truly brings out the best in me.

No matter what we’re doing, we absolutely love spending time together! We love the outdoors but also look forward to couch-bumming movie nights.

Jon is the person I look up to the most in life and his love for the Lord and for people is an encouragement to me everyday!

We’re a bit quirky, a little crazy, I’ve heard we can be pretty weird but that’s a compliment, and together we are both passionate about allowing God to use our marriage and our individual faiths to help further His Kingdom and make Heaven a little more crowded, whatever that may take.
