When my parents told me that they were coming to Romania for our Parent Vision Trip, I almost couldn’t believe it!
My mom and dad were leaving their comfort zones for a week, traveling half way around the world on an overnight 12+ hour plane ride into an unfamiliar country with language barriers and foreign cultures, to see Jon and myself while serving alongside us during our ministry in Draganesti-Olt, Romania!
I couldn’t wait to see them. It had been 7 months since we said our goodbye’s to them at the Boston Logan Airport in October. I lived in Colorado in my early 20’s so I had gone almost a year without seeing my parents in the past, but this time, the reunion felt so much stronger and sweeter and I knew that it was because of my Spiritual growth and maturity through these past 7 months of being away.
We spent the week partnering with Hope Church in Draganesti-Olt, where we gave Bibles away to the Gypsy communities, played games with Gypsy kids and taught them Bible stories and the love of Jesus, brought bags of food and supplies to poor homes in multiple Gypsy neighborhoods and were invited graciously into their houses to encourage and love them (my favorite ministry!).
Witnessing my dad play games with the Gypsy kids, hearing my mom boldly share her own testimony to multiple people in the village, completely warmed my heart because I knew that the Lord had such purpose for them to come to Romania, and it was for those people that they witnessed to that week. I was so blessed to be able to see God use my parents for His glory!
One of our biggest ministries that week was preparing and putting on an evangelism event in the neighboring city. This event brought tons of local people in where we spent the evening talking with them about their lives and many of us had the opportunity to speak with them about Jesus and His salvation for them!
Lives were saved that night! The Lord used so many of the parents and Racers there to bring His Word to the lost and some people prayed and accepted Christ into their lives!
It was an amazing week and incredibly refreshing not only to have spent much needed time with my mom and dad, but also to invite them into our journey here so that they could experience for themselves a little taste of what Jon and I have been called to do!
Below is a short video of our time together in Romania! Enjoy!
