So as many of you know this journey for me is coming to an end…. I’m currently writing this in El Salvador on my month 10 out of 11. Wow it doesn’t even seem real to be typing this right now to be honest. There was this weird switch in the race where instead of telling people the countries we are going to, we started to tell people the countries we’ve already visited. And that number is rapidly growing as we march into the last, final chapter of this journey. But what’s next? That’s the big question… Well I think I’ve finally come up with an answer, at least for a couple of months. I was asked something a month ago that kind of surprised me, excited me, intimidated me, but overall invited me into something that I didn’t even consider a possibility. If you’re reading this you probably have been following my blogs this year. It’s my hope that if you do, you enjoy them. Blogging was something I thought at the beginning of the race “ha, maybe once or twice but honestly I’m no writer, and I don’t really plan to be one.” Well it’s funny how God changes things in what sometimes seems like a blink of an eye. After a few blogs I began to receive some incredible words of encouragement not only from my teammates but my community back home and even people I didn’t even know, like other racers parents. This began to open my eyes and give me more confidence about what God might be calling me to do. Which is learning what creating and sharing a story actually looks like. So what I have been asked to do is be an “Alumni Storyteller” for another squad. Now if your not part of the world race you’re probably wondering what that even means. Well it’s actually a fairly new leadership position in the world race. It’s a former racer who goes back out on the field for 2 months with a new squad to not only continue to do ministry alongside them but advocate, influence, and encourage them in sharing their stories, embracing the race, while offering any support they can for new racers. I am blessed to say I have been asked to take up this position leaving in January. (Don’t worry family it’s only 2 months this time.) I will be going to Honduras and Nicaragua with Q squad as they begin their race. There is two things about this new adventure that will be a challenge though.

  1. I will not be home until December 20th. And I have to leave December 30th.. Which means I will only have 10 days at home. (Hey at least it’s Christmas!) Please know if I don’t see you in that time that I will see you when I return in March. There will be a lot to do at home for preparing for the next two months and as much as I would love to see everyone, It may not happen. Know I love you and miss you.

  2. Going back on the race means I will need to raise more money to support my time. Luckily it’s not $17,000 hahaha. Butttt I do need to raise $2,000 to support my travels, lodging, food, and ministry. I know many of you graciously gave to make this even a possibility. But if you feel led to give again, it is greatly appreciated. Every penny counts when it comes to helping God’s children. And you can do so through my blog page or in person as before.

So really I wanted to just share with my amazing community what’s happening in my life, what new adventures are to come, and what new opportunities God is giving me. Although this may be out of my comfort zone, it’s also an opportunity to continue to grow. I’m blessed to have this chance and see what doors may continue to open through it. A huge thanks everyone who has supported me, none of this would be possible. Not the chances to serve others, not the chances to see and experience the world, not the opportunity to love on the lost and broken people of the world, and not the chance to see who God is actually calling me to be.
