So I have spent about 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic.
We are staying in San Juan with seven other teams, it is a little crowded at times but we are making it work. Yesterday we found out where we would be doing ministry, we are in a small area called Guachupita. Do you remember all the videos and commercials about the little shacks and houses with trash everywhere and children running around barefoot?

Well it is like I am living the video right now. There is so much poverty, and sickness.
But you can see the love of God shining through many of the people here.
There is great hope for San Juan and all of the Dominican Republic.
We are working with Miguel and Emily here in Guachupita. The small part of the town is surrounded by a
river. Every time there is a heavy rain it floods and the whole city gets wiped out.

There is also a lot of trash and broken glass. Drugs and alcohol are still a problem there.
Abuse and violence is there but not as bad as it was.
The kids are amazing! They just came running up to us. They are so desperate for love and so open to the love of Christ. We walked around there last night on a prayer walk.
We prayed for the ministry and the work that we will be doing, also for all the sickness.
We also played with some of the kids (They all came out of nowhere)

This morning we went and cleaned up an area where we will be doing some VBS for the kids.
Some of them came out to help, and we had a few of the translators come and they helped clean.
We will be going back again this afternoon to do some more work.
There is a lot to do but we will do everything that we can before we leave.

Here is a video our team made enjoy!!! And tell Kara she did a great job putting together the video.
