This month marks the halfway point of my Race.

5 and a half months down, 5 and a half to go.

I’ve already seen God do some cool things in and around me! And though I am longing to be home, I am excited to see what God has in store for me these next 5 and a half months.

This month we have been working with an organization called Ingane Yami (which means My Child in Zulu) Children’s Village.

What they do is rescue orphaned and abandoned children and bring them into their village (which is only a cluster of 5 houses right now, but they hope to grow to 25!) and put them in a home with up to 6 children and a mother who treats and cares for them as if they were her own.

The village cluster can been seen in the background(The cluster of houses can been seen in the background)

(If you would like more information or if you would like to partner with them you can find their website here: http://inganeyami.com)

We have been working alongside them by playing with the kids, assisting the kids with school, exercising with the moms, helping the moms with their English, and doing some on site construction projects (i.e. Building cement stairs, a retaining wall, and a Braai [known as a barbecue in America]).

They also have a church on site that we help out with the youth service on Friday nights and we do some community outreach on Thursday with the Youth Leader.

We’ve also been tenting this month, which is the first I’ve tented the entire race! I’ve enjoyed it though, and it hasn’t been that bad because we still have a building to put our stuff in and make meals in. (And for those of you who’ve been following my journey from the beginning, I finally found a good quality tent for a decent price!)

It has been a great month so far! I’ve really enjoyed getting to do some real tangible work as well as getting to bring joy to the children here.

And our hosts have been amazing! They have served us far more than they should be. Whether in the little things like going out of the way to bring us to Nandos (a chicken restaurant that my team is infatuated with and has been craving), or in the big things like taking us to their parents beach house for the weekend and shark cage diving, and everything in between!

(Yes, I swam with sharks, outside of a cage! And it was one of the best experiences of my life!)

I’ve really enjoyed getting to spend time with our hosts and getting to know them. And I hope that we will have been able to pour as much into their lives as they have poured into ours by the end of this month.

If you would like to be in prayer for/with me, here are a few requests:

-That I would be more attuned to God’s voice throughout the day, not just when I’m sitting quietly before Him.

-That God would continue to reveal my passions and His Truth to me.

-That myself and my team would stay present here on the Race (as things happen back home and we start to miss home) and that we would finish it with excellence.

Thanks everyone for supporting and praying for me and continuing to follow me on this journey. I could not have made it this far without your support and fervent prayers!
