No I didn't just misspell Jonah, and no I didn't just get eaten by a whale either. The story of Jonah has meant a lot more to me recently though.
Jonah was called by God to do something great in his life with God's help. However, he was too scared to carry through with his calling. He didn't think he was able to do what God asked him. So naturally he ran the opposite direction to escape his calling.
I've realized my life isn't too far off from Jonah's story. It seems like I keep trying to make my own plans for my life and God sends whales my way every time to swallow me to turn me around while reminding me who's actually in control.
I believe now I have truly been called to this "World Race" missions trip. When I first heard about The World Race, a few moths ago, I got really excited and wanted to leave right then and there to do it. I knew that wouldn't happen, but the idea of leaving to go to 11 different countries to minister in whatever way possible really istigated a deep desire within me. [Ironically I heard about The World Race while I was in Atlanta for my brother's wedding and Atlanta apears to be the hub of all things World Race related!] I knew at the time if I were going to ever do it I would have to wait at least a few years, and yet here I am!
God sent one of those "whales" to turn me around and now I'm heading out in January to preach the Gospel to 11 countries in 11 months!
Since I applied, I haven't stoped praying that this is where God wants me right now. It still seems impossible considering the amount of money I have to raise, especially in the time I have since I applied later than most, but I just keep reminding myself,
"God doesn't call the equipped,
he equips the called."
I could definitely still use as many prayers as y'all can give me! I still need to reach $3,500 for the first deadline at the end of the month, and $15,500 total, not counting everything I need to purchase before hand! So if you're feeling led to support me in that way [there is a link on the side for that] thank you! If you'd like to talk to me or have any questions or want to support me in some other way feel free to click the link on the side that says "Contact Me!" I'd would really love to hear from you, especially if you have any special words of encouragement!
I'm super excited for this oppurtunity [probably the most excited I've ever been for something before]! I know God will use this to do some amazing work through me but also within me!
