If you’re like me, most of the time you like to know what’s going to happen.

You like to know what you’re going to do tomorrow…
You like to know what you’ll be doing in 30 mins…
You like to know what’s for dinner…
You like to know what time you’re going to have to wake up…
You like to know who you’re going to see…
You like to know if it’s going to rain…
You like to know what country you’re going to be in…

That whole notion of knowing things, however, when you’re on The World Race, is blown out the window. For quite some time this was actually a tad frustrating for me, particularly when people knew but simply weren’t allowed to tell me. I didn’t even find out this months ministry until our last day of ministry in Swaziland.

It wasn’t until now that I’ve finally let go of that need to know. I’ve realized if I trust God, I don’t need to know what he has planned for me long before it ever happens.

I’ve recently finished a book I borrowed from a fellow squadmate, Emily Gironimi, called “Greater,” by Steven Furtick. In it he says,

“He’ll do the showing if you will do the going. You can’t think too far ahead about where you’ll end up.”

Emily had that sentence underlined and written in parenthesis next to it was “(the world race!)” and she couldn’t have been more right! We sign up saying we’ll go with a list of possible countries, and that’s it. God shows us along the way where we’ll be going, and what we’ll be doing, and they tell us that should be good enough for us.

It took me laying in my hammock on the southern tip of South Africa along the beach, for me to realize he really does have everything in his hands and under his control. At this point, I get to sit back, relax, and let him show me where to go.

Furtick continues to say,

“You can only go where He tells you to go today. When you wake up the next morning, He’ll show you where to go tomorrow.
The day after that, He’ll show you where to go that day.
And the day after that, and the next day, and the next day.”

I don’t have to worry about the fact that I have no idea what I’ll be doing for my ministry tomorrow when I wake up. I don’t need to worry about what country I’ll be in next month. I don’t even need to worry about what I’ll be doing in December when I get back to America. I just have to trust God to show me in his timing.

He’s been faithful thus far and will be forevermore.
