We left our church around 4pm on Tuesday to go do our daily village ministry routine. On our way we had a surprise stop at an all girls school. We sang songs including "The Funky Chicken," ate whatever they threw at us, and prayed for all the girls before hopping back in our auto rickshaw to continue on to our village. When we got to the village, instead of immediately going around door to door praying for whatever needs the families may have we rested for a short time before starting with sunday school which was then smoothly transitioned into the service. By time the service was over it was already dark all throughout the village. We spent the next 10-15 minutes laying hands on and praying for each of the people present at the service. When we had prayed for everyone we began getting ready and gathering our belongings to head over to where our dinner was being prepared by some of the women in the village. I started walking when Emmanuel, one of our translators, came over and said "Jon, quickly, you must come!" He grabbed my guitar and handed it to one of the pastors there with us. He called for another teammate of mine, Lauren, as well.

We follwed him and some of the other men from the village to one of the houses/huts watching our every step in the dark night. They removed the gate from the yard and we walked up to a bed right outside the house. There was a man laying there with a cloth bunched up in his mouth and his legs all twisted up. We were informed that he has been paralized for about 3 months now. He was unable to stand or even sit properly with his legs in the position that they were. Lauren and I both immediately placed our hands on him and began praying saying anything and everything to God so that he might make this man walk once more. As we were praying his legs began to move and bend, someone grabbed them and slowly helped him straighten them out as Lauren and I kept praying more and more. His legs were perfectly straight by the end of our prayers and Emmanuel quickly rushed us on to the next house.

After we finished praying at the next house and were moving on to a couple more I turned to Emmanuel and simply asked, "That paralytic man, could he move his legs like that before?" I would've asked sooner, but I was just so confused and trying to process in my own mind what just happened. He simply answered "No." and kept walking. Lauren and I were even more confused at this point. We just witnessed a seemingly paralized man move his legs right in front of us after prayer, but everyone around us acted as if it really was no big deal. They acted as if it was the norm, as if it happens all the time. This bothered me at first, but ti got me thinking, why was I so surprised? Why was it that I could not just realize God is doing stuff like this all the time?

Lauren told me that earlier that day she had just been reading the part of the bible, John 5:8, where Jesus had told a guy, "Get up… and walk," and he did. So as we were praying she began saying those words over and over. "Get up and walk." God's word is still alive today. Jesus is still alive today. His Holy Spirit is moving through us today. He is doing miraculous things today. And we shouldn't be surprised when we see amazing things like this, rather we should sing all the more praises to God for his love for us!
