“Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.”    ~Matt 18:3

For the last few days I have been staying at an orphanage while helping them with different jobs like, farming plantains, gardening, and playing with children.  I want to focus on mainly one aspect of that all, the children.  These kids came from all sorts of different back rounds, yet none of their purposes are different. There are different points in life were our effort is measured in different ways. For example; if a two year old drew her dad a picture and gave it to him saying it was them, the dad would except it. The picture only really consisted of scribbles and lines because she is two, yet in her mind it’s her and her dad. The dad would except it saying “thank you, it’s wonderful!” He would be saying that because even tho it’s not the best quality drawing, it’s the best the daughter could do and she would be doing it with love, so you praise her for it.  In the same way, when we give God our best, he doesn’t expect us to change every single soul in the world and doesn’t expect us to drain our body in an effort to do something we can’t do.  We give God what we can do. We give him our best and nothing more because he will except what we can give and will do it with a loving heart.

Back to the children, they were shy at first but after about an hour they were smiling, running around, and having a great time. They had the heart of a child, not worrying about anything else but having fun in the moment because that is what they know how to do.  They were living life the way they knew how to and not worrying about it. If that’s all they can give God in the moment, then he will except it.

We as humans have to except what we can give God even if we do not think it’s enough. Once we offer our best to the Lord whether we think it’s enough or not, he will except it with a loving heart. We must have the heart of a child and give what we can with a smile and not worry so much in life.  So have the heart of a child:)
