God used PVT and the month of September to completely transform my vision and understanding of my future. As many of you may have guessed, the month of September was not an ordinary month, run of the mill month for many of my friends and I. During this month, we saw and experienced something we did not get to see at all in any other month. We got to see all of our parents partake in ministry with us as well as worship and fellowship for almost a week. During this time we witnessed God change a lot of parents lives and we saw God move. Whether it was through the incredible ministry that Ralph and Glenda, our hosts were running or incredible testimonies from racers and parents, there weren’t too many people who left that week unaffected.
One of the most impactful moments for me was seeing my parents cry at multiple moments throughout the week as they saw the tremendous difference between who I was before the race and who I am now. Hearing how affected they were by how all of us loved without fear and how getting to know some of the racers inspired them to want to do more with the life God has given them was truly amazing. The first morning we we’re altogether, we exchanged stories about our parents and our parents exchanged stories about us and it was truly a beautiful experience and left me feeling much closer to everyone. I will say that I am not much of a cryer. Not because I hold it in, but simply because not a lot of things make me want to cry, however I cried a lot during PVT. More than I cried the whole year combined.
There were so many things that I did for the first time on the race that I wanted to see my parents partake in and got to see. As I got to see my parents in action doing ministry, I was so excited, encouraged and proud to call them my parents. I was able to encourage and call out what I see in them and what I believe God wants to do in and through them and they were able to do the same. I can’t even begin to express what a blessing it was, that I had an experience like this with my parents and got to see God move so powerfully not only in me and my Parent’s lives but also in the lives of others.
