I have been relatively quiet about my World Race over the last couple of weeks. There are a few reasons for that. Second guessing myself is not one of them I am 100% committed and invested into serving with this missions opportunity and if it was up to me I would hop on a plane tomorrow. However with an operation that is usually as large as the World Race it is often not just up to me. As well as the large amount of people that sign up to serve on a World Race it is quite different then if it was just me signing up to go serve on a single mission trip.

Which brings me to the purpose of writing today. I was fairly late in signing up for the October route on the World Race and by the time I had signed up there was a large number of people who had signed up before me. Because of this I was told when I originally signed up that there may be a possibility of me being put on a wait list, which means that there are too many people for the route and that I would have to wait for people to drop out or switch routes for me to have a spot open up. I actually believe that this is truly a great thing that there are to many people willing to say “Hey God send me” that I might have to have patience and wait on God for my turn. I think it is awesome that we have so many young people who are willing to drop everything in there lives and follow Jesus wherever he may lead them. Anyways, back about the first of July I was in fact put on a wait list and told that I could wait it out and see if a spot opened up or I could change to a different route. I decided to wait it out because I had begun to get to know people on my squad and I also looked at it as an opportunity to put my faith in Jesus and trust in him. Well it turns out that my spot on that route never opened up so I would indeed need to change routes. As I stated earlier I was late signing up for the October route which meant that I would be more hurried to fundraise as well. During the application process in the beginning I contemplated putting it off until January from the start so I could have more time to fundraise and would be more ready when it was time to go. So with all that was said about having to find a new route and the October launch being so close with so much left to do I have decided to postpone being launched until January.

Now to the second purpose of my blog, Fundraising. Fundraising has become such a learning and growing opportunity for me as well as an opportunity to fully trust in the Lord as I have absolutely no control over it. Many of you have already donated and I am greatly thankful for that. Fundraising will not be affected by me moving my launch date back to January and the money you have already donated has not gone away. Moving my launch date back simply makes it easier on me to bring in the funds before I leave and not have to rely on them to come in while I am gone. (we do not have to be fully funded until 6 months in)

As a part of my fundraising I have been looking at other opportunities to fundraise other than simply mailing out support letters and speaking with people. One way is through T-shirt sales. I have partnered with an organization called Fund the Nations which is a non-profit organization that designs Tshirts for the purpose of fundraising for mission trips, adoptions, etc. I will be selling these T-shirts for $25. If any of you purchased the BP “in your corner” Tshirts you will remember how soft these t-shirts are well I believe my t-shirts will be made out of the same material so they are SUPER COMFY. I will also be pre ordering these t-shirts so that I do not have pay for a lot of tshirts and just have them laying around. I am looking to placing an order every two weeks and sizes range from small to 3xl and youth sizes are available as well but I am unsure on those as well as what prices they may be. I am also willing to ship shirts if you live out of state and can negotiate the price if you are considering placing a bulk order.
