Hey everyone! My name is Johnna Stark, I am 23 years old and from the area of San Antonio, TX. I was blessed to grow up with my mom, dad and older sister. They have always been my biggest advocates and loved me so well through their care and support. My brother-in-law is now a part of our family and him and my sister have recently had a little girl. So thanks to them I have a precious little niece named Harper Ann and I cannot wait to be her best friend!
I graduated from Texas State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with a minor in business administration and art. Now before you get bored reading about my education, hang on! I chose this major partly because it was a quick way to finish college, after pretending I was going to be a photographer for the first couple of years, and partly because I really love people and it interested me to be able to learn about them.
From this love of people (and an interview) came the opportunity to work at a camp called TBarM after high school. I continued to work there for the next several years. This was a place where the Lord really set the idea of community on my heart. He led me to people who would love me and hold me accountable by pointing me to the truth in Scripture. This also gave me the chance to build relationships with campers and learn what it looks like to teach the same truth to others.
After the first year and a half of college I heard about YoungLife through a good friend and immediately knew I wanted to do that. I wanted to see how God could use me in the lives of high schoolers who, more or less, did not want much to do with the Gospel. So through really awkward interactions (yes, on my part) and walking into lunchrooms the size of my entire high school (literally…) the Lord was faithful and led me to amazing girls who I have been able to walk life with for the last 3 and a half years.
I have had the privilege of going to Peru three times for mission work and each time have seen God work in such incredible ways, from the people and their stories to the beauty of His creation. I am so humbled by how much I learn from them, every time the Lord has stunned me with His faithfulness and power. I have grown a love for Spanish and desire to learn the language fully at some point in my life. I am hoping to go back eventually to live there for some time if the Lord opens that door.
A few more things about me…I really enjoy reading, I am typically in the middle of a few books at a time. I like to run, it challenges me because for a long time I really disliked it/was awful at it. Mostly anything outside I will enjoy. I could throw a frisbee all day long and be content, I like to be in the water..swimming, kayaking, wakeboarding…I wish I had more time for cooking because I really love cooking and I really love food. Sometimes I really do try and do artistic things. I like the idea of being artistic but I have to face reality sometime and come to terms with the fact that I am not that good at art. Praise God for teaching humility. Um, let’s see…I am looking around my room to see if there is anything else that would be absolutely fascinating for you to know. Mmm nope, nothing else!
Okay, well thank you for coming this far and learning a little bit about me! I would love if you followed my blog during this journey, having your pray and support through it would be so great. I am ready for God to do bigger things than I could imagine and I am so excited to share it all with you. Ciao!
