Before we left for the race I wrote about preparing for this new season of life we were entering into.  In the midst of sad goodbyes and packing I came to the realization that this, like other times in our lives, this was a time for change and the beginning of a journey that will be life altering.

We are now onto month 4 of 11, and we have arrived at another season of change within our journey.  Last week we spent four days with the rest of our squad at a house just outside of Cape Town.  It was time for two leaders from among our group to be raised up.  Due to these changes, our individual teams must be rearranged to ensure balance in the teams, so during our time at the house we were given our new team assignments.  It was a time to celebrate our first three months and pray for the transition that was taking place.

The relationship we had formed with our first team was close.  We began our journey with them.  This year is a leap of faith for each of us, and through this we bonded.  We experienced the Philippines, China, and South Africa with team Nikao and feel blessed to have journeyed thus far with those 5 other people.

During our time in Cape Town, we were given our new team assignments.  Before reading them, our leaders had us take special time to worship and pray- to align our hearts with the Lord’s.  Our first teams had become families and the idea of parting and change was difficult.
It’s incredible to see how God knows exactly what our needs are.  Our new team consists of two of the girls from our original team, two new girls, and one new guy.  This team is different.  There will be an entirely new environment and dynamic created amongst these people, and I believe God will use this to refine us in different ways than before.  He will use this new group to reveal himself in new ways, and we’re ready.  Our new team is our new season and with new seasons come so many new blessings.

Ignition is the name our team decided upon.  The first three months of our journey were a time of establishing our identities in Christ.  It was a season of discovery and evaluation.  To ignite something is to start it or to move it to some sort of action.  Our hope is that we will take what we’ve learned and now propel one another in the direction of our new identities.  We will now run this race established, toward the radical lifestyle we are pursuing.
