Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Men of God it’s time to step up. When things are hard our society tells us to follow our hearts and to do what makes us happy. Men, the heart is deceitful and wicked. To follow the heart, if not allowing it to be kept in check by God, is to be lead by the world and its prince.

Please do not mistake my words. I have known and met many men of God through out my life, which have shown me an example of what it means to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness. The sad truth though is I’ve met and known many more women of God throughout my life that have shown me this example.

Admittedly no, I have not been the best example of this either throughout my years of being in relationship with Christ. Where is our resiliency, men? If we say we are Christians, why do we build our lives on the foundations of the world rather than the living cornerstone? When push comes to shove why is it more often than not that men don’t fight back? It’s embarrassing to see women fighting the battles while we sit on the sidelines.

*This is in no way a dig at the women out there chasing after the Father’s heart. Lord knows we would be lost without you. Simply this is a call to men to step up to your level. Please continue to lead as you are and give the example of what our pursuit should look like.*

As men right now we should be looking to God saying, “put me in coach.. put me in!” We should have an attitude of Samuel where we say, “speak Lord, your servant is listening.” Seek to not be luke warm. Seek to not build your own kingdoms, because they will fall. I know mine has.

No, I am not asking anyone to be more vocal of your political opinion on Facebook. If social media is our only outlet of showing people we’re men of God we should reevaluate our motives. Our lives should ooze Jesus through the way we live everyday. The way we show others kindness, our work ethic, keeping our commitments, and yeah even being vulnerable are ways to live like Christ.

We need to be a generation that brakes the mold of what it looks like to be a Christian man. Do not be afraid to answer the call to enter the game. Whether it’s at your job, among your family, or a call to the world abroad, step up. As long as we’re seeking His Kingdom first He’ll be revealing that call.

When the going gets tough, and it will, don’t ask the Coach to take you out of the game. Trust that the Coach knows what he’s doing and will give you rest, and until then rely on him for your strength.

I thank God for my earthly father and Grandfathers who have shown me these things through the way they have lived (or the stories I’ve heard that have lived on past them, that have been just as impactful). They have been men in the game. Making plans and supporting their families, but allowing the Lord to establish their path. Maybe you have not had that in your life. Cool. Don’t let that become an excuse. Ultimately we all have the same Heavenly Father, he sets that example, and he does a better job than any earthly man could.

What are we waiting for boys.. let’s shout, “put me in Coach!” and go be men.
