Hello everyone!
We are John and Victoria Quinata and we are so excited you’re here and want to know about us! We’ve been together a little over 5 years and now married about a year and a half. Though both from Southern California we actually met in college at the University of Hawaii, 3,000 miles from home. We were both transfer students and graduated with degrees in Psychology (John) and Photography (Victoria) and both minored in Communication. We loved living in a place where outdoor activities were endless!
Here’s a little more about each of us individually…
Hi, I’m John. I’m 28 years old, born and raised in San Diego, California, and am extremely faithful to Southern California in general, but I’ll argue with anyone that San Diego is the best city in the world.
Right now, I’m five months into a sea-service deployment with the Marine Corps. I’m an Infantry Officer with the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. Being an infantry Marine stuck on a ship is almost debilitating, but the tour we’re doing is really eye-opening. Coincidentally, it’s mostly through the 10/40 window and we even spent a couple weeks in Djibouti. We covered a lot of ground in the Northern part of the country. Culture shock isn’t a strong enough term to explain how I felt.
I really enjoy being outdoors – camping, hiking, and off-roading mostly (makes what I do for a living pretty easy). Before the Marine Corps, Victoria and I used to do a lot of camping, hiking, freediving, biking, longboarding, and anything adventurous. It’s really taken a back seat because I just haven’t been available for the last few years. We’re looking forward to that changing.
We agree that our interests, experiences, and faith make us perfect for the World Race and specifically the Expedition Route. I’ve always wanted to serve others and have a special place in my heart to provide for others, but more accurately, I’m thankful for what God has given me, taught me, and blessed me with and want to share that with the world.
Hi, I’m Victoria! I’m 26 years old, born and raised in Long Beach, California. I’m introverted, and most enjoy time spent in smaller groups of people. I did gymnastics for 14 years and it’s still a big part of who I am today; I think it’s the greatest sport in the world. I coached for a while and would love to be able to do that again. I’m currently learning how to play the piano (a long time dream of mine) and do anything to keep myself busy while John is deployed.
I considered applying for the World Race right after college, but decided against it to continue pursuing a relationship with John, a campus ministry opportunity with Cru (the US ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ), and to stay in Southern California. I love new experiences and am excited for everything that we’re going to be able to do on the World Race.
Feel free to contact us with any questions, and thanks for stopping by! 🙂
