The Canvas:

I imagine that our lives are like an empty canvas, and God is the artist. As an empty canvas, we try to paint our own lives, control our destination.  However, we can never paint something as beautiful as God’s creation.

Here is my story:

The Beginning: I was born in the Philippines, and the youngest out of 4.  It was fun growing up, I love my family so much! Still, I didn’t know anything about the outside world until when I was about 13 or 14 when my parents and my older sister and I moved to the U.S., leaving my oldest two siblings in the Philippines.  That was an emotional roller-coaster to say the least.  Through that experience, crossing cultures came at an early age for me.

High School: We moved to a small town in Texas called Center.  (Fun fact: Center is not in the center of Texas, it is actually 15 minutes away from Louisiana).  Anyway, I grew up my rebellious teenage years in Center.  I struggled with pornography and depression coupled with missing my siblings back home.  I grew up pretty religious back in the Philippines; however, after moving to the US coupled with depression, I thought that a good God would not let all those things happen to me, so I thought He didn’t even exist.  It was not until after my junior year in high school that I started believing in God again.  I got saved in a summer camp that my friends invited me to.

College: After high school, I move to Austin to pursue a degree in Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin.  After 2 years of moving back and forth between degrees, I decided to pursue Business Administration degree, focusing on Consulting Management.  I actually did not know what I wanted to do with this degree until last year.

Here’s the plan:  I am passionate about helping and working with kids.  Through God’s grace, I want to build my own company that provides an opportunity for children overseas to get education when their circumstances seem to work against it.

Why WorldRace:  I want to experience God’s creation.  More importantly, this adventure is a good opportunity for me to partake in God’s plan to reconcile the World to Himself!  It is also a strategic way for my future.  Since I want to build my own company working with children overseas, I thought it is a good idea to learn more about other countries.

God is powerful, but I am not.  I don’t have the power to save the World, but God does :D.
