Well, it’s pretty much the end of week 2 and so far I’ve chased down a songthaew at midnight, met someone who is friends with someone I did Younglife with in high school, had ice-cream for breakfast several times, climbed waterfalls, bathed with elephants, cleaned bathrooms, been chased by a small dog, lost my water bottle, and almost had to get a butt tattoo of a chicken quesadilla. It’s been rough but exciting here in Thailand, a dull moment never lasts long. It’s definitely not what I expected, but I’m glad it’s turned out this way to be honest. If it wasn’t hard it would probably because I wasn’t growing at all, and if there was no excitement then there would be no break from the trials that God’s been bringing my way.

So working in Zion has been cool, but it’s also a bit of a struggle. There’s not always stuff to do, so sometimes you’re just sitting around waiting for something to do, which can be really boring. Zion cafe hires girls who have come out of the sex trade in order to help ensure that they don’t go back, and sometimes it can be difficult to talk and connect to them, not just because of the language barrier but also because there’s just a huge difference in who we are and lives we’ve lead up until this point. However, it’s also encouraging to look back and see that there is a difference in the way that they interact with us. At the beginning of the month they were very quiet and reserved, but now they like to joke around with us and don’t mind asking us to help them with something. So while it can be tough it’s also life giving at the same time. It’s funny how God likes to put us in situations like that.

As far as everything I mentioned before I will be writing blog posts about them so that I can share those experiences with all of you. So be looking forward to that. For those of you who support me in prayer please pray for me to continue to have an open heart and open eyes to what God is doing through the trials He is taking me through.
