So we have been in Malaysia for around two and a half weeks now. Our ministry site is in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, and we are working with an organization called Dignity for Children. Essentially it is a school that helps provide education to the less wealthy citizens of KL. Of course with that being said you would assume that we’re teaching and working with the kids who go there, but for the most part you would be wrong. The kids are actually on break right now, so there’s not much schooling going on. What I was assigned to do was work with the maintenance man for the month, and I have some. The first week I worked with him, helping take down ceilings and preparing rooms to be turned into classrooms. However, after that was done it has been a mix of helping move stuff to other buildings and painting. There has been a lot of painting actually, but I’ve actually really enjoyed the work I’ve been doing. There was a pretty rough day the other day. Josh O., Michaela, and I had to help move an entire sewing room to a different building. It was a lot of sweating, lifting things, and walking back and forth. The really cool thing was that we all stayed positive about it. We made jokes about the work we were doing and found things to laugh and smile about, so even though it was a hard day it was still a good one. Over all Malaysia has been a good month, yeah we’ve had our bad days, but when I look at the whole I would call it good.
