All right, I know I’m pretty late, but let’s talk about the Philippines. The squad was in Bacolod, but my team was with one other team in the small village of Balabag. It was a pretty rural village, lots of farmers, no electricity for the most part. We lived in tents, took bucket showers, and drew water from a well. I think the only downside was sleeping kind of sucked. It was hot so you’d get sweaty going to bed, and then it would get cold in the middle of the night, so you would be sweaty and cold. Not the best. Other than that it was really awesome living there. The village was beautiful and the people we lived with were awesome. We lived with Edwin and Bebing and their 3 kids, Aaron, Dwin, and Ariann. We camped in their yard. For ministry we would go out in the mornings and just talk to people and walk around the village, after lunch we would go and play basket ball and volleyball. A lot of people showed up for that, most of them kids. It was pretty awesome. At the end of the month we did a big event at STI, one of the schools in Bacolod. It was cool. The event took place over the span of three days. I was at the games station, so I lead groups of kids in games and just had an awesome time. It was a little stressful at times, but it was great to be a part of. At the end of our time each day we would gather all the students, do skits, have a message, and then have an altar call, so I got to pray over quite a few kids.
As far as how the Philippines went spiritually it was a good but hard month. God taught me a lot about choosing joy and hope. There was a lot of spiritual warfare that went with those lessons. He revealed to me that I have this tendency to prepare for the worse as well as expect it, but He’s been helping me to believe in hope and believe that He’s got good plans for me. At the end of the Philippines we went to debrief at Crystal Beach, pretty nice place really. It was good, I got some good time in with God and got to hang out with the squad. We got put into new teams as well, so that was good. Definitely stressful, but it was good. I’m now on team Prism. Anyways, that was the Philippines. I should have another post coming really soon talking about how Zimbabwe has been and some other stuff God’s been showing me.
