You must be wondering what we did in Romania.  Our group was partnered with an organization,
Oaza, that took in street kids.  While we were there we helped with many
household service projects.  The projects
varied throughout the month, but we got a tremendous amount done there.

Here are a few pictures from our month in Romania.

We cleared a backyard (about 1/8 of an acre) full of absolute
rubbish.  It was a few steps down from
“The Secret Garden.’  Massive pile of
stone, uncut grass, and untamed tree branches took hold of this neglected
yard.  It was a relentless battle, but
with patience turned this ugly piece of land into something more
presentable.

Raimie and I completed a bathroom.  When we started on this bathroom there was
nothing in it.  It was not painted nor
were all the tiles done.  The only
finished product in place was the tub.
The heater, toilet, sink, mirror, paint, and tiles were all done this
month.  This bathroom was
unyielding.  As hard as the backyard was
to overcome, this bathroom gave us the most grief.  Sadly enough it broke us.  One simply task would turn into an
obstacle.  Nonetheless it was great to
finally put those hours of watching those “home renovation” programs to
use.

All last but not least, we all had to strip mini table and
chairs of seven layers of paint and repaint them…bright blue (or
smurf blue as I called it).  Rachael
“joyously” took on that job.
