My friends and I have this saying. When we feel the same or when we’ve been through a similar experience to the person we are having a conversation with, we say “same”. It’s basically saying “I feel the same” or “I heard that” or ” I know that’s right”.
I feel like saying “same” looses the potency of the meaning we are trying to convey. i mean, its sounds cool in conversation. its a very hip hipster thing to say. Im certainly not condemning people who say it because i say it too.
It just feels like, We are loosing a lot of conversational opportunity because we don’t elaborate.
We don’t dig in. We drop the ball for sheer lack of laziness. That’s lame. That person has a lifetime of stories and you just missed them.
We miss the opportunity not only to share ourselves but to learn about others.
This is our chance to tell people how we feel and where we’ve been.
A lot of us have been to places and have gotten to places in our lives where our stories could truly bless and help the people we talk to.
It would show them that they aren’t alone in this world.
That there is light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak.
Don’t miss each other.
We need each other.
We need to be open books and step into the light.
Words have the power of life and death. So share what has given you life and lifted you out of the depths.
Talk about God’s goodness. Let your heart be full of praises. Encourage the people around you. This could be the best day of your life.
As believers in Jesus, we reflect His story as we share in His life. His life encourages us, teaches us, shows us the best way to live. His death, His loss of everything proves that He has been there too. His resurrection raises us to life. We have real, new life in Him. We share his stories, we speak about Him and His goodness and mercy towards us. His story, everything He did, completely changes everything about us.
Hebrews 4:14-16
14Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,f Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Jesus feels the same.
Jesus has been there.
Jesus paid for everything.
Jesus paid for that thing that’s bothering you right now.
I know that’s right. I know that is true and pure and good.
Those who know Jesus are seated in heavenly places with Him.
We are a purchased people,
part of a chosen generation
a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
My church has this saying, “Follow me as I follow Him”. We are learning how to be disciple makers in this world. So let’s teach each other and learn from each other. Our testimonies of grace are the most powerful stories we can tell.
