Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I have made it safely to Quito, Ecuador for our next month of ministry! Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support, it really means a lot to me.
This month we are staying and working with an organization called Incalink. They are a non-profit based here in Ecuador that takes part in various ministries to help reach the youth of Ecuador and share the gospel with them. Our entire squad of 54 people will be staying here, but breaking off during the day to take part in different ministries around the city. Some of the other teams will be working with kids at a local high school, working with special needs children, working with a local church, and working with homeless. For more information about the organization you can visit their website here: http://incalink.org/about-inca-link/
Our team is actually taking part in 2 separate ministries. Most of the time we will be around Incalink helping with various labor projects to improve their facilities for future World Race teams. For the past couple days we have been shoveling and moving dirt to finish a rock wall they had started. Our other projects include overall cleaning of the building and surrounding areas, replacing some doors in the kitchen, chipping away old paint and re-painting, the outside walls, and knocking some walls down to re-purpose an old bathroom upstairs. Here is a picture of the guys working on the wall outside:
And here is an updated picture with the first layer of stone down, if you look to the right you can see the stone going all the way up, that’s the end goal.
The other ministry we are doing is working with a lower level professional soccer (futbol) team here in Quito. You can see their website here: http://www.cumbrealta.org. The ages are around 18-24 for the most part I’d say. We are working to build relationships with the guys to hear their story, pray for them, and tell our story about Jesus to help reach these young men. I’ll update more on this later as we have only just started.
This month we are putting our tents to good use:
The guys are all camping and staying outside and the girls are staying inside, I’m actually super comfortable inside my tent and I really enjoy staying outside. Quito is a beautiful city, and you can definitely feel the altitude of about 9300 ft. when you’re shoveling load after load of dirt. I am loving it so far and can’t wait to get deeper into our ministries this month. Here is a picture of Incalink, the main building is lower left:
There are 4 dogs where we are staying so that helps me when I miss my dog, Winnie. Picture below are Guapa, Guapita, Sonny, and Emma.
Thanks again for reading and keeping up with my travels, I know that I am exactly where God wants me right now and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead. God bless you all and I’ll update again soon! I’m still just $945 away from my next financial goal at the end of the month, thank you so much for your prayers as I continue my ministry!
