As I have been reaching out to people and asking for their support, the question often comes up, where exactly does my money go? In addition to your support, I will also be contributing my own funds as well towards this mission. Hopefully this can answer your questions.
Some people might be thinking, why should I give you money so you can go travel next year? The World Race is far from a vacation. Yes, we get a few days off each month to relax and explore. However, the majority of the month is spent hard at work in the local communities helping with construction projects, partnering with local ministries, preaching the gospel, and helping in whatever way we can. My team and I will leave the comforts and conveniences of home and living out of backpacks for the year as we serve the communities we live in.
Below is a graphic to show you exactly where your donations go:
Training camp is a 10 day “prep course” so to speak that takes place this October in Georgia to prepare around 250 and myself to launch in January. From launch, my squad (55 other racers) will begin our mission in Columbia and travel to a new country each month. In each country we will be divided into a team of 5-7 people that we will serve with throughout that month.
The Field Support, WR Development Program, and Admin Fees go directly to the World Race organization to help get us safely from place to place, foster upcoming races, and help us throughout our journey.
The World Racer is ME! This is where the majority of your generous donations go to help me with food, lodging, transportation, etc. while out on the field. See below for a breakdown of the budget for a World Racer:
As you can see, your donations are very important and every little bit helps me tremendously. I will also be purchasing gear such as a large backpack, tent, and vaccinations that are not included in this cost.
I hope this helps explain how much your donations go to help me. Please continue to pray for me as I prepare for the Race and if you have any questions, please feel free to let me know!
