So after two weeks of prayer and information gathering our team had been focused on two countries: Croatia and Czech Republic. It’s amazing though how the Lord knows what He’s doing when we don’t know and so for those two weeks door seemed to be closing. When it came down to crunch time and having to make a decision we started getting random leads to Hungary. A country we didn’t think much of since we are already reaching Hungarian people here in Romania already, but maybe there’s a reason for more effective ministry. Our teams received a contact from Hungary who had an extreme desire to come to their place for various ministries and as it came time our team felt like this was where the Lord was leading.
We had no expectations, it wasn’t on our Race route and any new country and ministry would be a blessing; so we have been happy. We are going to Hungary!
The town is called Pecsvarad and we’ll be working with a ministry organization called Maranatha Vendeghaz. They are in need to much construction and yard work. We’ll also be doing English language with kids, working with the youth group of a local church, coffee house outreach and university outreach ministry to a school of 35,000+ students and over 7,000 learning English. We’ll also have the opportunity to make up our own ministry with these people and be part of the local church events.
There area is known for the beauty of the mountains and scenery. The Mecsek National Forest is just 2 blocks from Maranatha and the tallest peak (682 m) is only 4.5 km away. There are also a number of picturesque valleys with waterfalls. The city of Pécs is just 18 km from Maranatha. Its one of the oldest cities in Hungary and host a good number of museums, historical sites, shopping streets, and cultural events.
Our team is excited and I ask that you can help by start praying for us as we still have two more weeks here but we’ll need to focus on the logistics for all of this. Our team has been doing much evangelism the last four months and will be good to do some more ministry that’s different. We are excited to see what the Lord prepares in advance in Hungary.
John
