Such an appropriate name for this orphanage. Our ministry host was blessed to be able to connect with the woman that started this amazing Orphanage. Her testimony in itself is nothing short of a miracle, to all the 20 plus kids (ages 1-17) living in her house, she is known as Mom.
We first met these kids at church last Sunday, and Paul, our host and pastor decided that we would give them a visit sometime during the week. We sang worship songs together to break the ice and played some games. We were blessed with their amazing voices… honestly, we were blown back by the way they were able to harmonize… it was the coolest thing!!
Some of them shared their testimonies and we couldn’t help but be so amazed by how much God has done in their lives. Some of them coming from parents that just completely neglected them and were found digging in the dumpsters at a very young age. One of the littlest children was just abandoned by her parents because she has Down syndrome. They are aware of how the Lord has moved in their lives and how He has given them not just opportunities for a future, but Christ himself. It is incredible to Know the heart of Nancy (Mom) and her personal testimony encouraging her to take care and love these little ones. Taking them from harsh conditions to being able to go to school, have a place to call home, a person that they can call Mom, and sisters , who’s stories are similar to theirs, that can encourage one another. I saw genuine thankfulness in their hearts and love for each other. They knew that they were loved. I saw Jesus in all of it.
They showed me a glimpse of how God wants His children to treat each other. Each of them had responsibilities. The older taking care of the younger and doing it with joy, gentleness and love. They serve one another so genuinely. I was just so joyful witnessing a tangible redemptive character of God through these kids by the way they live their lives. Their joy was so contagious!
Their daily pursuit of Christ through their devotionals, bible studies, worship, fellowship and authentic love for each other makes them such a power house and warriors of the kingdom. God’s favor on them can be felt as they utter their prayers!! And man can they pray!!!…this 11 year old Akash prayed for me and He was quoting God’s word back to Him. That was pretty cool!! I don’t even know what I was doing at 11, surely I wasn’t uttering God’s words…. They are walking confidently on who God says they are through Christ, unconditionally loved.
Isn’t it amazing that what the enemy tried to destroy, Christ renewed, nurtured and crowned? Can our God get an Amen!!
