Our squad mentor visited our team when we in Haiti during the 2nd week. One night after worship, she pulled me aside and gave me a vision. She said “I was running quickly towards the ocean. The ocean was deep and because of the storm, there were big waves, but I was being kept afloat and I was safe from the storm and the deep waters…..”
I didn’t quite know what It meant at the time, but neither did she… so I wrote it down on my journal and prayed about it…

Weeks go by and heard nothing. Now, here we are 3rd week in the Dominican Republic, and my current team leader pulled me aside in the morning to talk and she asked me if I would be willing to be the new team leader (She’s leaving in a week). I was speechless. Immediate thoughts… I’m not qualified, other people in my team are way more capable, what do I have to offer? she gave me a piece of paper with a verse from Isaiah 43:2. This is what she received when she was praying for me.

“When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.”

And my mentor’s vision immediately popped in my heart…. so this is it… those deep waters. (It’s still weird having awareness of answered prayers… but also very assuring!!)

I prayed all day asking the lord how am I suppose to lead? Who am I to lead? But I found my rest when he said, “it’s not up to you, it’s up to me, you only need to be still, and know that I am your God.”

It’s a new season. Growth can only happen in the uncomfortable. Looking back, it is through hard times that the Lord has made Himself known. It’s through the difficult times and seasons where we see the move of the Lord. He is faithful to provide wisdom and guidance in ways that glorifies His name in the end. That we only need to trust in Him, that victory is His desire for us.

So I ask for your prayers to lead my team with humility (Do nothing In selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves – Philippians 2:3) always putting the needs of my team first. Loving them in truth and serving them with the love of Christ (He must increase, but I must decrease -John 3:30). Pray that the lord would put people in my path to give sound advice and guidance into being a leader He has called me (at the moment) to be. (Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory -proverbs 11:14)
