Luke 10:38-42
[38] As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. [39] She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. [40] But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
[41] “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, [42] but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Training camp is in 9 days. So many things are probably running through our minds. There’s so much to do, to prepare for. Anxiety, fear and doubt must have come across me countless times as we draw closer to what we have been called to do. Reading my squad’s conversations, I see that it’s been affecting all of us in different intensities.
I was driving to get lunch and I just prayed that God would remind me who Jesus is. We get so distracted by all our worries, wanting to be in control that we just drive our selves further from the peace of Jesus. Luke 10:38-42 popped in my head as I was praying. It hit me right in the feels.
I usually find myself drowning when I try to do things on my own. Lack of God’s vision usually drives me to pursue what I think God wants me to do or to accomplish instead of just sitting down to listen at the feet of Jesus. He reminds me that HE is our peace, our joy, our refuge. Jesus said to Martha, “only one thing is needed” and “Mary has chosen what is better.”
I pray for all of us who are in a season of anxiety because of our worries. I pray that we be reminded of the power that our God has in our lives. He is faithful to finish what He started. I pray that we keep our eyes and ears on Jesus who promised that he will never leave or forsake us. I’m excited for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, when we see a new perspective of the kingdom!!!
