The other day, and by other day I mean a month ago, I was sitting on a beach praying. I wasn’t praying about anything in particular. I was just praying. After a while I flipped my palms up, bowed my head, and was intent on just trying to listen to what God wanted to tell me. Only a minute or so passed before my forearms got uncomfortable and I had to shack them out so I could keep my palms up. I readjusted and continued to intently listen with my head bowed palms up. It was then that God spoke to me. He told me “it’s in the simple acts of submission.” To this I responded with the question of “what simple acts?” He responded, “By flipping your palms up you are preforming a simple act of submission noticeable to those around you. Flipping your palms up isn’t a natural thing. You don’t sit or walk around with your palms up. Usually your palms are at your side facing in toward your body. I would know, I anatomically made you this way. What I desire is for you to choose Me. I want you to choose to flip your hands. This is a conscious decision you have to make everyday. Not just in the big decisions but in the small ones, submit to Me. Like your hands, let these simple acts be a symbol of what has happened in your heart. Let them be a representation of how you live your life.” It’s in the big in the small that I submit to God. It may not be comfortable or natural but it’s worth it.
