To start, a quick update from the past week-ish. Easter was a highlight. We started the day by worshiping as the sun rose. We had brunch as a squad, played soccer, and took communion after a squad wide “church” service. I have especially loved the care points in the last couple of weeks, and I am excited to go back. We had to make a border run because our 30-day Swaziland visas were expiring, but our leadership here at the base decided to turn that border run into a couple day excursion to the beach. This was also effective because now our 30-day visas will last until our last day of ministry before we go to final debrief prior to our flight home (which is crazy to think about). Finally, and most importantly over this couple day excursion we got to see Avengers: Endgame on opening day! It was a great couple of weeks, and I am working to make sure the short time we have left isn’t wasted.
So, as some of you may notice, the fundraising tab at the top of my blog is now empty again, and I think I should probably explain that.
So why is it there? (cue drumroll)

I’m doing CGA!
“What’s CGA?” you ask. CGA is an after-the-race program from Adventures in Missions that stands for Center for Global Action. The mission statement of CGA is to know yourself, so that you can lead yourself, and then lead others. It is five months long, and its focus is on taking what you learned from the Race and expanding on it while also learning how to live the missionary lifestyle in America. You have classes five days a week that force you to work through personal flaws or wounds in order to get to the most true growth and make you into the best leader you can be. The rest of the time you are encouraged to get a part time job and do volunteer work in the community for the purpose of living out the lessons you are learning in the classroom.
I view CGA as the opportunity to transition what I’ve learned from this season to set up the rest of my life. People I have talked to that have been through CGA have told me that they go through more growth during CGA than the entire 9 months of the race. CGA is in Gainesville, Georgia with the AIM base. Not only will I get the chance to learn from staff members at AIM, but we also get to do more community living with other Gap Year alum.
This all leads me back to the fundraising bar. CGA costs $5950 for housing and class costs. I am viewing CGA as an extension of my ministry journey and faith journey I have gone through on my World Race. To the people reading this, if you have been following my journey over the last year, or even if you haven’t, I ask for your support in the next step of this journey. Would you be willing to pledge a monthly donation?
You guys are the best and I am so thankful for all the relationships and growth and connections that have come on this journey, but also for the ones that are still yet to come.
