Ya’ll! I just have to share this. I wanted to think of some fancy way to write this, but honestly, sharing a brief journal entry that includes my prayer of thankfulness and bullet-points of the day is the best way to present it… because this day was so COOL! God’s fingerprints were all over it. He’s the best.

6/10/18

Today we were sent out into the community to evangelize. Karen provided us with a short message on “Ministry is life, and life is ministry”. With my team of Kelly, Kelsey, Gina Marie, and Landry, we found a park ~20 minutes away. [Prior to leaving campus]We selected a song called “Something to Believe In” by Citizen Cope. The lines that continually touched us were found in the chorus.

You Keep Giving Me

Something to Believe in

And I Keep Giving All

Cause the Walls are Falling Down

When searching for our [ministry] location and discussing [music video] ideas, we planned to use Gina Marie’s gift of playing music by ear. We anticipated her banging on a box like a drum. But God, you placed us in a beautiful park that had a large piano with the words “Play Me!” above it! That only begins the excitement… God, I just have to list the things I am grateful for:

  • The park
  • Beautiful Weather to start
  • [Then, thank you for the rain because I was able to meet and minister to beautiful people under an overhang while we were all stuck out in the rain 🙂 ]
  • The creek
  • Kylie Bell’s birthday party
  • Meeting Larry and praying for him
  • Meeting “K” and “R”
  • Singing, while Gina Marie is playing the piano and blessing the family that was having the birthday party
  • The meal you provided for me and my teammates

I’ll break this down quickly. We were given an assignment to begin integrating our training of living missionally, echoing the motto of “Ministry is life, and life is ministry”. What a way to live! We are invited into this every day. Isn’t God the coolest? Anyway, we were each given a water bottle and told to pray about who the Lord desires for us to give this bottle of water to and how he desires for us to minister to them. We had a secondary assignment to create a music video using a song that would not be traditionally considered “worship” or contemporary Christian music. God used the lyrics in this “secular” song to display His Kingdom.

After much prayer, and getting slightly lost while driving around, we stumbled upon this BEAUTIFUL park with a giant public piano, and were able to meet and minister to souls. Some needing healing in their bodies, some for healing in their minds, others for jobs, for deeper intimacy with Christ, for freedom from shame, for reconciliation. We laid hands, prayed, spoke scripture, shared the love of God. It was POWERFUL. And to add to it, the precious time we spent together as a team (I’ll introduce them in a later blog…eek I can’t wait!!).

Our ongoing hums of the song “Something to Believe In” perfectly described our heart’s response to God’s continuous display of faithfulness throughout that day.

You Keep Giving Me

Something To Believe In

And I Keep Giving All

The Walls are Falling Down

What a kindness of God to do this for us, and His timing is always right.
