I’m writing this on the first sunny afternoon we’ve had since arriving in Rivne a week ago. This month, I get to be an English teacher! Team Vessel is working in a state school this week, teaching 5th through 11th grade students. We only started teaching yesterday, but so far, classes have been going well and we’ve enjoyed getting to know the students. They’ve all been excited to meet Americans, and want to ask us so many questions about what our lives our like.
Our 11th & 7th grade classes from this morning.
Please be praying for us the next two days while we’re at the state school. We have a huge opportunity to show these kids and teenagers God’s love, but are praying for more discernment in how best to share the Gospel with them as well.
In addition to teaching this week, we’re also doing a ton of lesson planning for another English school we’ll be leading next week. It’s a 7-day Christian English school for adults, and each of us will be solo teaching our own classroom for a full week. The curriculum for this school from the Gospel of Mark, so while we’re teaching English and giving these men and women what they want from us, we’ll be able to start having conversations about God’s love and giving them what they really need. Pray that the Spirit would place his words in our mouths, and that we’ll be willing to listen and follow his leading.
Thank the Lord for the fact that our ministry hosts here are fantastic. They’ve had several Race teams serve with them before, so they have the system set up really well and are helping us prepare for school and the camp. We’ve been warmly welcomed (Oh my WORD the food in Ukraine is unbelievable!), and are loving getting to know them better.
Thanks for praying!
-Joel
